The Dead or Alive Media Project is a collection dedicated to researching the history and archaeology of past and present social media, both living and dead, created by students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Art and Media at the Autonomous Metropolitan University – Lerma Campus (Mexico) since October 2025.

The collection is a tribute to the Dead Media Project initiated by Bruce Sterling and Richard Kadrey in 1995 to compile, through a mailing list, media and information that had disappeared or been forgotten prior to the popularization of the Internet, multimedia, CD-ROM, and virtual reality in that decade (https://www.deadmedia.org/).

the Dead or Alive Media Project es una colección dedicada a investigar la historia y la arqueología de las redes sociales pasadas o presentes, vivas o muertas, realizada por estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Arte y Comunicación Digitales de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana – Unidad Lerma (México) desde octubre de 2025.

La colección es un homenaje a the Dead Media Project iniciado por Bruce Sterling y Richard Kadrey en 1995 para recopilar a través de una lista de correo, medios de comunicación e información desaparecidos u olvidados, anteriores a la popularización de Internet, el multimedia, el CD-ROM y la realidad virtual en esa década (https://www.deadmedia.org/).
